Tata Crucible’s Corporate edition for 2010 could not asked for a better start. In what was described by quizmaster Pickbrain as “easily one of the best finals at Hyderabad” , team Infy represented by Surendra and Sridhar won the Hyderabad leg on the final question inching past defending champions Google (Krishnamuti and Lathish Venugopal).
For Infy, the victory becomes all the more significant as they got past the formidable duo of Sabyasachi Pani and Santanu Dey the reigning National Champions from Vizag Steel. The quiz also witnessed the qualifying of the current International campus champion Nirad Inamdar (who won the 2010 Campus Crucible International final from IIM-Lucknow) of Mahindra Satyam.
The six finalists were:
- Mahindra Satyam: Nirad Inamdar and Murali Duggineni
- Vizag Steel: Sabyasachi Pani and Santanu Dey
- Infosys Technologies: Surendra and Sridhar
- Microsoft: Meg and Nitish
- Google India: Krishnamuti and Lathish Venugopal
- IBM : Raghuram R and Raghuram S
A fast paced quiz with over 60 teams, laced with trademark Pickbrain humour and some outstanding quizzing by the teams marked the evening, as one witnessed in awe how quickly the landscape of business quizzing at Hyderabad had changed in the last few years.
It was indeed heartening and encouraging to see several college students and a young school team at the venue to enjoy quizzing at its very best. Kudos Hyderabad.
