Corporate Quiz Results - XIMB profs amaze Orissa

“Two professors have decided to celebrate Teachers Day in style” was an apt remark by the quizmaster to capture the mood and the result at the Orissa final of Crucible. It was not a simple feat for the duo as they got past the formidable Vizag Steel teams who never missed making it to the national final till this year.

• Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. – Ansuman Rath & Nihar Ranjan Das
• Vizag Steel – K Ravichand & Rahul Kumar

The final was all about wits, knowledge, managing strategy on stage and handling pressure as the quiz saw its twists and turns with each passing round. The duo from XIMB got early gains and decided to play out the time and allow the pressure to build. The tactic seemed like an unbreakable fortress till they finally faltered and took a negative to let Vizag Steel to gain ground and level scores.

Other teams did their bit to try and gain ground but it was too little too late as the final ended in a tie between Vizag Steel and XIMB which the latter won with a very good answer.

It was a special victory as they became the first ever academicians to qualify for the national final of this coveted quiz. One does hope their performance would pave the way for more professors to take to this wonderful mind sport.
