Corporate Quiz Results - Rourkela Steel’s maiden win at Ranchi
A quite Sunday morning with a dash of rain was surely no deterrent for the Jharkhand audience as they came in from all over the state to be part of the quiz. Teams from Durgapur, Rourkela, Bokaro and Dhanbad travelled to Ranchi for this prestigious quiz. “It is honour for us to be part of such a huge event that we have only seen on TV, its great to be quizzed live by Pickbrain” remarked Sanjay one of the contestants underlining the enthusiasm.
The six finalists were:
- Bokaro Steel: Debabrata Choudhury and Sudhanshu
- Rourkela Steel: SS Panda and SK Mallick
- Ericsson: Rajiv Ranjan and Achal Barla
- Durgapur Steel: A Pathak and P Mishra
- Rourkela Steel: Debajit Rabha and Ravi Banjare
- SAIL Dhanbad: Niladri Chatterjee and Sampad Mishra
The finale was an absolutely absorbing battle with all teams looking good and sharp in the early rounds of the quiz as questions that seemed rather difficult were cracked with relative ease. The audience was entertained by not just the teams on stage but by their own humorous answers and the witty remarks of the quizmaster.
The buzzer rounds were the decider as team Ericsson and the two Durgapur Steel teams started moving ahead of the rest. The final round witnessed a brilliant display of business acumen by Debajit Rabha and Ravi (Rourkela Steel) as they picked two 15 pointers back to back to ensure a place in the national finale. Their colleagues SS Panda and SK Mallick did extremely well to hold their own and ensured they finished second while Ericsson despite some very good answers had to settle for the third position.
With close to 40 teams this year, one would like to believe the business quizzing culture in this state will now see a greater growth over time.
