In an edge of the seat final SCMHRD won the Pune round of TATA Crucible defeating reigning champions Symbiosis Law School. The quiz saw 108 teams taking part with a wildcard round that followed a 20 question prelim to identify the six finalists.
The final witnessed one of the most absorbing battles of a Crucible with nearly all teams running neck and neck through the first few rounds of the quiz. The quizmaster even observed ‘This is so typical of Pune where they all run together like a marathon and the sprint in the last lap decides the winner’.
True to that statement the quiz went down the wire to the final round with SIBM, Symbiosis Law School and SCMHRD all battling for the top spot. Amneet Sodhi and Gaurav Parab of SCMHRD finally prevailed in a tie breaker with the 2008 champions of Pune, Subhodeep Jash and Suvajit Chakraborthy of Symbiosis Law School finishing runner this time around. Guess all those present had the same feeling after such a wonderful quiz – “Jai Ho! to pune quizzing”
Having been a National Finalist twice, I have nothing to say except “its getting better by the day”.
