Campus Quiz Results - Bhubaneshwar – KIIT clinch Odisha tie
On a cloudy afternoon in the capital city of Odisha close to 200 youngsters gathered for the annual Tata Crucible Quiz. Over the years the steady growth in popularity of the quiz here has also led to a marked improvement in the quality of the teams.
The finalists were:
- Silicon Institute of Technology : Jyoti Prakash Panda and Saransh Moahaptra
- Utkal University: Gourav Pattnaik & Kalpitkaya Mohanty
- Orissa Veterinary College: Shakti prasad Mishra & Rashmi Ranjan Swain
- Kalinga Institute of Industrial of Technology: Anirban Ghosh & Abhinav Dhar
- KIIT University: Omkar Amruntanshu & Sagar Saurabh
- Xavier Institute of Management: Nipun Yerramalla & Arpit Narendra
The final witnessed the XIMB duo get off to an early lead followed by four other teams as the quiz quickly moved from one round to another. Some brilliant answers in the visual round and Utkal University were also in the running.
In the buzzer rounds that followed KIIT with Omkar and Sagar came back strongly to get ahead of the other teams and the battle was a four way affair till the final question.
It was tense as seasoned quizmaster Pickbrain fired the final salvo. XIMB needing 10 to draw level with KIIT took a chance and got the answer to force a tie breaker. The KIIT duo held their nerve and clinched the title on the tie breaker to make it to the Eastern Zonal final.
The guest of honour Mr.Arun Mishra Dy. Vice President Operations, Tata Steel congratulated the teams and gave away the prizes.
