The Zone 3 final of Tata Crucible featured a good mix of young quizzers winning their first campus quizzes and veteran quizzing teams, with 2 former national finalist teams from Indore and Bengaluru also in the fray. This mix meant that there was an air of uncertainty with regards to who would go through from the Zonal into the National Finals.

FINALISTS

  • PES University, Bengaluru :Preetham and Akhil
  • School Of Communications, Manipal :Arjun and Aayushman
  • IIM Indore :Divij Santosh and Leo Francis
  • IIM Raipur :Jasojeet and Suhas
  • IMT Nagpur :Shubhashok and Ms. Harshitha
  • Aditya Global Business School, Rajamundrye :Shresth Fomra and Sanjay C
  • Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad :Syed Mustafa Hashmi and Syed Murtaza Hashmi

The final was a very intense battle from the word go with all teams beginning cautiously. However, IIM Indore’s preparation showed as they answered a tough couple of questions to open up a lead at the top of the pack.

The Hyderabad Champions, Osmania Medical College got a few answers right but took many negatives trying to get into the top two places, while IMT Nagpur and IIM Raipur could not get their momentum rolling. The teams from School of Communication and PES University made the battle for second place interesting but both took negatives early which forced them to play cautiously. Aditya Global Business School, from Rajamundry got a couple of good answers in, and were, in Pickbrain’s words, one question away from the National Finals. Unfortunately, they took a negative when they couldn’t afford it and PES University took advantage of the slip up to clinch the runners-up position.

Commenting on the Zonal Finals, the chief guests of the evening, Mr. Gopal Reddy, Correspondent and Secretary, CMR group and Dr. Janga Reddy, Principal, CMRIT made note of how well the teams had prepared and also appreciated the young teams for being able to soak up the pressure and make it to the top.
