Quiz Format

The 2023 edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz will be held online right from registrations to prelims including the 24 Cluster Finals and Cluster Wild Card Final rounds. 4 Zonal Finals including Zonal Wild Card Final and 1 National Final event will be conducted as an offline event.

Clusters

For this edition the country has been divided into 24 clusters and the quiz finals will be held for these 24 clusters. The 24 clusters are based on the location of their college/institute. Individuals need to select correct location of their college/institute in the online registration form as that would become the basis of allotting the cluster to them.

Two Prelims

Level 1 Prelim

  • This will be a pan-India prelim for all participants.
  • This is a software-based round.
  • The top 100* from each of the 24 clusters will progress to Level 2 prelim. Total 1200 qualify.

Level 2 Prelim

  • This level is for the top 1200 (top 100 from each cluster).
  • Top scorers from Level 1 prelim will receive communication from organisers if they qualify for Level 2 prelims.
  • This too is a software-based round.
  • 30 questions. 15 minutes.
  • The top 12 from each of the 24 clusters will progress to the Cluster Finals – Wild Card Round, after due validation process. If there are any drop-outs or if participation of any of the top 12 scorers is considered invalid at this stage, then the next top scorers from 13th spot onwards will be invited to complete the 12 spots for the finals. Totally 288 participants will qualify.

Quiz Finals

Cluster Finals – Cluster finals will comprise of wild card round followed by the actual finals.

Wild Card Round

  • The top 12 from each of the 24 clusters, after due validation, will participate in the wild card round.
  • The cluster wild card round will have two rounds of 6 participants each.
  • This too is a software-based round.
  • From each of these 2 wild card rounds the top 3 will qualify for the actual cluster final.

Actual Cluster Final

  • The top 6 from the cluster Wild Card finals will take part in the Actual Cluster Final.
  • The top scorer from this final will be declared as winner and second top scorer will be declared as runner-up.
  • The winners at the cluster final level will qualify for the semi finals.

Zonal Finals

  • The 24 clusters will be further segregated into 4 Zones – East, West, North and South and each Zone will comprise of 6 clusters.
  • The winner from each of the 24 cluster finals will be part of the Zonal Finals, based on the Zone under which their cluster belongs.
  • From each of the 4 Zonal Finals, the winner will qualify for the National Final directly.
  • For the runners-up from each of the 4 Zonal Finals, a Wild Card Final will be conducted and from this 2 will qualify for the National Finals.

Celebrating women quizzers : In the spirit of celebrating women quizzers, in this edition, we have a new addition at the Zonal Finals :

  • All Zonal Finalists (of any gender) can bring in a woman candidate as a team-mate at the Zonal Finals. This applies to Woman Zonal Finalists too
  • The woman candidate should be from the same institute as the Zonal Finalist. Only exception will be incase of non co-ed institute, where in they can bring in a woman candidate from another institute.
  • The women team-mate would not be entitled to any prize money but will be eligible to get goodies given to Zonal Finalists
  • The women team-mate can only partner during the Zonal Finals and cannot be a team-mate at the National Finals
  • All Zonal winners need to participate individually in the National Finals

National Finals

  • The 8 finalists, comprising of 4 winners and runner-ups from Zonal Finals, competed in the National Finals.
  • The top scorer will be crowned the National Champion.

The quiz will be hosted by Quizmaster Pickbrain and Quiz Co-host Rashmi Furtado. Detailed instructions will be sent to the shortlisted participants prior to the event.

Rules

  • Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2023 (“Event/ Quiz”) in the Digital / Online format is an
    individual participation event and will be completely held online / digitally.
  • This Event is open to only educational institutions located in India.
  • There is NO ENTRY FEE.
  • Any number of individuals from a campus / institute can participate in the Quiz.
  • The Quiz is open to full time students who are 18 years or above from all disciplines of any under-graduation, degree, or post-graduation courses, across India, but not Junior college students.
  • The registrations for this edition are completely online on www.tatacrucible.com.
  • Individuals need to choose their location in the online registration form based on the place where their campus/ institute is located and not the place of residence of the student.
  • All registered individuals will receive a confirmation message by email once their registration is verified.
  • There will be 24 cluster finals held in this edition and based on the location of the campus/institute as selected in the registration form, individuals will be allotted a cluster from the backend.
  • There will be two levels of online Prelims conducted in this edition of the Event.
  • All registered individuals will be given detailed instructions regarding common all India Level 1 Prelim, prior to the date of the said Prelim.
  • Based on pre-defined scoring parameters, up to top 100* scorers from Level 1 Prelim from each of the 24 clusters at the backend, will qualify for Level 2 Prelims.
  • Top 12 scorers from Level 2 Prelims will be invited for their respective cluster finals, after due verification.
  • If there are any dropouts from the top 12 scorers in any of the cluster, then the next top scorer would be invited for the cluster finals after due verification.
  • Each cluster final will consist of wild card round(s) and final round with top 6 contestants and an overall winner and runner-up.
  • The Winner from each cluster final will be invited to the Zonal Finals. There will be four Zonal Final events and the winner from each Zonal Final would qualify for the National Finals.
  • There will be a Wild Card round with the runners-up from each of the Zonal Finals, so four of them will compete in this Wild Card out of which the top two will qualify for the National Finals.
  • In all, there will be 6 National Finalists, 4 Zonal Winners and 2 from the Wild Card round for Zonal Runners-up.
  • The top scorer in the National Finals will be declared as Winner.
  • All participants are required to have valid photo identity proof of the campus/ institute that they are representing and produce the same on demand. Normal photo identity proof like PAN card, Voter ID , etc are not valid identity proofs for the purposes of this Quiz. In the event of a college ID card not being available or not as per the specifications, the organiser would request the participant to provide a validation letter from the institute confirming the credentials of the participating student.
  • The number of individuals that will qualify from Level 1 Prelim is currently proposed to be top 100 scorers, but this number may vary based on actual participation.
  • Management, employees and families of the Organizers (Corporate Brand and Marketing Team at Tata Sons Private Limited and Tata Services Ltd along with identified agency partners for the event) are prohibited from taking part in the quiz.
  • In view of the pandemic situation, the entire Event is being organized on a digital platform. The participants agree that the Organisers would in no way be responsible for the internet connectivity that is required at all stages of the Quiz. It is the sole responsibility of the participants to equip themselves with robust internet facilities to take part in this Event.
  • The Organisers will put in their best effort to ensure the technology requirements at their end, such as the availability and functioning of the requisite softwares, servers etc. to provide a great experience. However, the Organisers would be in no way responsible if for any unforeseen reasons there is a failure at their end on these fronts.
  • The participants will ensure fair play at the Quiz and shall abide by all the rules of the Quiz and uphold the true spirit of the competition and not indulge in any unfair means, at any stage of the Quiz.
  • If any actions of the participants at any stage of the Event are found objectionable either by the Organisers or Quizmaster and seem to be in violation of any of the rules of the Quiz, they shall accept the decision of the Organisers and Quizmaster which will be final and binding on all issues related to Tata Crucible.
  • The organisers reserve the right to request certain check and verifications to ensure fair play during all the rounds of the Quiz.
  • The participants may be required to be physically present at a venue for the Zonal Finals and National Finals of the Quiz which may require specific physical presence of the finalists at a given centre and/or outstation travel. In case any finalist is unable to be physically present, his/her slot will be offered to other finalists. The details will be available close to the time of the Event.
  • The organisers retain the right to make any changes to the event, its format, date, rules and in any matter related to this Event, at any time before or during the Event.
  • Organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any application to registration and / or entry to the Event proceedings.
  • By entering the Event and / or participating in the Quiz, the attendees permit themselves to be photographed / videographed / recorded by electronic and print mediums for telecast / publication and other display usage of the organisers.
  • Once you register for the Event you indicate your acceptance that the decision of the organisers and quizmaster will be final and binding on all issues related to the Event and no correspondence in this regard would be entertained.
  • By registering for the Event, you also indicate your acceptance to these terms and your consent to the effect that the organisers can send you communication from time to time regarding the Event or any other initiatives by the organisers or its group entities.
  • Prizes once awarded will be final and there would be no exchange/substitution of the prizes to the winners.
  • Neither the Organisers nor the sponsors, or employees, consultants, agents, third party service providers of the Organisers may be held liable for any warranty, costs, damage, injury, or any other claims incurred as a result of usage of the prize by the winner once delivered by the Organisers.
  • If the specified prize becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, the organisers may substitute the prize at their discretion.
  • All tax liabilities wherever applicable, will be the responsibility of the recipients of the prizes.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to alter/ amend/ modify any rules of the Quiz at anytime without any notice whatsoever.
  • Participants are hereby informed that Organisers do not pay or offer any participation fee for taking part in the Event. Any offer or communication made by any third-party offering participation fee in cash or kind is fraudulent and should not be entertained. Organisers shall neither be liable nor responsible for any loss suffered by the participants if they act in response to any such fraudulent offer made by any third party. Participants agree to promptly inform the Organisers in the Event of receipt of any such fraudulent offer.
  • If any individual has any questions or suggestions about the Event, they are welcome to contact support@tatacrucible.com.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this Event at any time without prior notice.
  • This is to inform all participants and winners that government id cards, bank details, etc. may be collected from the participants/ winners of the competition, both offline and online, for the purposes of reaching out to them with regards to their participation, winning of the Quiz and also distribution of prizes as the case may be.
  • This is an individual participation event and participants are required to participate only on their own, without any proxies and without any help from any other individuals, family members or anyone else at any stage of the Quiz. Organisers reserve the right to cancel any individual’s participation in case the organisers are convinced of any breach of the rules.

Internships

  • The “‘Tata Crucible – The Business Quiz’” (“Contest”) is organised byTata Group.. The details and rules of the Contest for individuals that participate in the Contest (the “Participants”) can be read at: https://www.tatacrucible.com/campus-quiz-in/#/rules .
  • The Participants that achieve top 3 places in the National Finals of the Contest i.e. the winner and 2 (two) runners-up (the “Shortlisted Participants”) will be eligible for an internship opportunity (“Internship(s) / Internship offer”) with any of the group company (the “Relevant Company”) of Tata Sons Private Limited (“TSPL”) subject to the terms and conditions mentioned hereunder (the “Terms and Conditions”). The duration of the Internships will be 2 (two) months.
  • The decision of the Organiser regarding the winners and runners-up will be final and binding on the Participants and the Shortlisted Participants.
  • While the domain allocation will be done by the Organiser in consultation with the Shortlisted Participants, however, the Organiser will have absolute discretion to choose the Relevant Company, based on the Shortlisted Participant’s skills, interests, and the Relevant Company’s requirements. The Shortlisted Participants will not have a right to ask for a change of such Relevant Company decided by the Organiser.
  • The Shortlisted Participants will be required to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Relevant Company they are assigned to. The Shortlisted Participants must maintain a professional demeanour and fulfil the responsibilities assigned to them during the Internship period. Failure to adhere to the applicable rules and regulations or failure comply with these Terms and Conditions may result in cancellation of the Internship and the Relevant Company, the Organiser or TSPL will have no liability whatsoever.
  • The Shortlisted Participants may be required to undergo a background check and provide relevant documentation and/or information as per the Tata Group’s or the Relevant Company’s policies, as the case may be, before commencing the Internship. Failure of the Shortlisted Participants to provide the necessary documents and/or information may result in cancellation of the Internship at the discretion of the Organiser and the Relevant Company, as the case may be.
  • The Shortlisted Participants will be eligible for stipend for the term of their Internship with the Relevant Company based on the policies of such Relevant Company. All other expenses of travel, boarding, lodging or any other costs of a personal nature, will have to be borne by the Shortlisted Participants.
  • The Relevant Company, TSPL or the Organiser will only offer the Internship opportunity as per these Terms and Conditions and for the avoidance of doubt, there is no offer of employment, contractual job offer or the likes (presumed, inferred, suggested or otherwise) to any of the Shortlisted Participants.
  • Failure of any Shortlisted Participant to inform the Organiser of his/her acceptance of Internship offer within 3 (three) days after the said written offer is made by the Organiser or the Relevant Company, as the case may be, shall constitute renunciation of the Internship offer by the Shortlisted Participant and the Organiser reserves the right but would not be under an obligation to award the Internship Offer to any other Participant in its sole discretion.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any Shortlisted Participants, substitute or replace the Internship offer, cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest with or without any prior notice and reason and without incurring any liability. For the avoidance of doubt, any such cancellation, termination or suspension by the Organiser shall not entitle the Participant(s) or Shortlisted Participants to any claim or compensation against TSPL, the Organiser or the judge(s) or Relevant Companies including their officers and employees for any and all losses or damages suffered or incurred as a direct or indirect result of the act of cancellation, termination or suspension.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to vary, delete or add to any of these Terms and Conditions from time to time without any prior notice.
  • The Organiser, TSPL, Relevant Company or the judge(s) of the Contest shall bear no responsibility for any damage, loss (including but not limited to direct, indirect, and consequential loss), liability, injury, or disappointment incurred or suffered by the Participants or Shortlisted Participants in connection with the Contest or the failure to secure the Internship offer, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum as per applicable law).
  • By participating in the Contest, the Participant(s) and the Shortlisted Participants agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions shall prevail over any inconsistent terms, conditions, provisions, or representations contained in any other promotional or advertising materials for the Contest. In the event of any inconsistency, conflict, ambiguity, or discrepancy between the any other advertisements etc., these Terms and Conditions shall prevail at all times. The Participant(s) and the Shortlisted Participants are also deemed to have given their consent for the collection and use of personal information by the Organiser upon entry into the Contest.
  • The Participant(s) acknowledge and agree to not hold the Organiser or the judge(s) liable for the outcome of the Contest and any liability on the Organiser is hereby specifically waived by the Participants to the fullest extent possible under applicable laws.
  • If any act, omission, event, or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser and which prevents the Organiser from complying with these Terms and Conditions, the Participant(s) acknowledge and agree not to hold the Organiser or the judge(s) liable for any failure to perform or for any delay in performing its obligations.
  • The Participant(s) hereby acknowledge and agree that any and all video/image/asset received as a part of this contest from the Participant(s) shall become the perpetual property of the Organiser with full rights and ownership over the same. The Organiser can choose to use the video/image/asset across any medium, any time in its sole and absolute discretion.
  • The Organiser’s decision shall be final and binding on any and all disputes arising out of this Contest. The Courts at Mumbai, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction on all matters arising out of or due to the Contest and these Terms and Conditions.
