A quiet evening at Guwahati turned out to be a thriller as teams fought hard for the city title. The quiz was so exciting and pulsating that it had all the tenors of a T-20 match, going right down to the final question.
Ace quizmaster Pickbrain, who is very popular in this region, was thronged by families and children who were at the quiz for selfies, before he started proceedings with a very interesting prelim of 20 questions leading the city into the final with the following teams.
- LIC: Subir Kumar Das and Prasenjit Bhattacharjee
- Umananda Dairy: Niraj Pareek and Ms. Siddhi Pareek
- Biomerieux: Arindam C and Nayanjyoti Medhi
- Jt. Director of Health Services (Govt. Of Assam): Mridul K and Abhijit Das
- Pioneers and Partners: Syed Burhanur Rahman and Shah Syed Samadur
- Assoc. of Engineers (ASEB): Arnav Chakraborty and Bhaskar Chakraborty
The final was a very absorbing battle with ASEB starting well and moving past the 100 mark very quickly. It took a while for the other teams to catch get off the blocks and it took some effort for Pioneers and the Health Services team to get close to ASEB.
The second half of the quiz clearly went the Pioneer and Partners way as they answered with a lot of resolve and cracked some truly difficult posers. The Health Services team did try to move ahead but scored negatives, so it was a long wait for them to catch up with the top two.
With Pioneers in the lead, the duo from ASEB and Jt. Director of Health Services also did well and soon it was three teams in with a chance with one question to go.
In the final question the Jt. Director of Health Services took a chance and levelled scores with Pioneers and Partners to force a tie-breaker. On the tie breaker, the former won their maiden title, to make it to the East Zonal final.
