Kolkata, August 26, 2007: On a quite Sunday afternoon the quiz crazy city of Kolkata decided to raise the bar at the corporate edition of Tata Crucible with some truly outstanding quizzing. Over 150 teams gathered at Taj Bengal for the prelim.
This was followed by the Tata Track of the quiz. Team TCS which has dominated the quiz for the last three years at Kolkata flew in from London to retain their title and make it to the national final, yet again. The “birthday boys” as Pickbrain referred to the Tata Steel team (it was their 100th anniversary) finished Runner up. The other finalists were from Tata Steel (team 2), Metal Junction, and two team from Tata Teleservices.
The external track of the quiz witnessed a mix of youth and experience. The final six comprised of ITC, Vizag Steel, ISB&M, Ernst & Young, RTS Power and Standard Chartered Bank. The initial rounds looked even but as the quiz progressed the team from Vizag Steel (the defending champions) began to dominate and showed how well prepared they were. The young team from RTS Power emerged runner up beating ISB&M in the final round.
The highlight of the quiz was the fact that very few questions went unanswered and the audience was truly brilliant in the way they cracked poser thrown at them. Perhaps, Kolkata emerged as the city, which won the maximum number of audience prizes.
