Close to 150 teams thronged the banquet hall of Taj Deccan at Hyderabad, for their edition of Tata Crucible. The energy levels of young Indians and their understanding of business was a treat to watch on an otherwise quite Sunday afternoon. The final was a cliffhanger with all the teams evenly placed at the end of the first couple of ‘overs’. The quality of answers underlined the ever increasing interest and comfort towards business quizzing in this region of India.
As the quiz progressed the battle opened up with NALSAR in the lead but closely followed by ISB and Osmania Medical. Tactics were tested as teams started taking risks. As the excitement mounted, the aspiring doctors from Osmania misfired on a couple of questions and lost out. Team ISB which was now in the lead played sensibly and held off a challenge from the NALSAR duo to clinch the title.
The guest of honour Mr. Kingshug Nag, the Resident Editor of Times of India Hyderabad, summarised the quiz with his quick wit, “The beauty of a quiz like this is you walk in thinking you know it all and I walk out not knowing one answer, but happy that young India knows them all”.
